Home Alone Scaled to Size

It is so fun when you can gift something that is for a friend or relative's kid that is also a little bit for the parents. This Home Alone children's book by Pop Classics is a great example. It is a cute, bite-sized version with adorable illustrations that kids of any age will love. I also love reading it and when it's mom's pick for the bedtime story, I often reach for little illustrated Kevin and his booby traps.

Clapton Channels Christmas

Eric Clapton released his first solo Christmas Album last month - Happy Xmas . I can't believe it took me so long to listen to it in its entirety, which I finally did this week. It's great - delivers on some solid hits, all with a very Clapton blues feel, and also has some great surprises... like the super catchy electric instrumental jam, "Jingle Bells." Clapton is really, really good at music and this collection of tunes is no exception. I can tell this one will stay on rotation even after this holiday season ends.

The album was released October 12 so you can find it everywhere. Here is the full track list. I highly recommend it!

Is Your Advent Calendar Ready?

There are a lot of cute Advent Calendars on the market, and even more amazing DIY creations. Last year I wrote about the Lego version we have used the past couple years and we went with this again for 2018. I get all crazy panicked that they are going to sell out, plus I want to get the best deal, so we have had ours sitting in a closet for almost a month now. I am the most excited about it thus far as the kiddos don't even know it's here yet. But - December is around the corner and always sneaks up, so if you are planning on counting down next month and don't have your plan in place, now is the time. We were shopping at Target for Halloween decorations and saw this adorable Disney Grinch Advent Calendar

And if you want to spend the big bucks, you can always splurge on the awesome, and seemingly giant, Christmas Vacation Advent Calendar. I love this idea in theory, but honestly I am not even sure I would actually want that one as my own. I have always wanted to make my own perfect family version, but I am still unsure exactly what that looks like... so until then I keep my eyes open for ideas. That actually gave me an idea. I created a Pinterest board for Advent Calendars where I will hone my vision and also give you some ideas should you be hunting for you and yours.

If we hadn't already purchased our Lego City one I may have reconsidered getting the Grinch.

Pete the Cat Drops Christmas Tracks

Yesterday, an expanded 28-track CD was released right on time for the holiday season. The 19-track album was released last month and the new nine bonus tracks feature six festive original holiday songs Pete recorded with friends, including Dave Matthews and Jason Mraz. I know my kids love just about anything Pete puts out there so I am thrilled there are some fun holiday tunes we can all learn together this season. Pete's normal tunes are pretty groovy too, so this is a welcome addition to add to our children's music collection.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

wiigin out christmas

You know at the end of It's a Wonderful Life when George is ecstatically running through town wishing everything a Merry Christmas? That's pretty much how I feel when the list of new Hallmark holiday movies comes out. Raging joy is another way I would describe it. And we have a lot to look forward to this year. You did hear me right when you read Chad Michael Murray is starring in one sure to be a classic this year. I will admit I totally watched One Tree Hill... well until that evil nanny season at least, and he is PERFECT for this genre. It isn't happening this year but what if they actually pair him with Alicia Witt. Their facial expressions would work wonders together. Anyway, I digress... there are 34 new movies coming out this year. That is so many. I mean seriously, that is a lot of movies. They start next month, October 27 to be exact. That means we are just over a month away and then it's nonstop holiday bonanza before Halloween even hits.

We see many of the names we have grown to love for the network: Candace Cameron Bure, Alicia Witt, Danica McKeller and Lacey Chabert. And we have some exciting new arrivals: Kelly Pickler, LeAnn Rimes, Christina Milian and the aforementioned CMM of course. To plan the rest of your year, you can see the entire schedule mapped out here. And it was nice to see EW in the mix - they did a great snapshot of all the flicks, including synopses that you can read here.

I am still trying to figure out what I am most excited about... so stay tuned. I also think we need a drinking game. I will work on it. Until then, I will be rereading what's to come. Happy almost Hallmark season everyone.
